Dinner @ Joey’s…..O’Neill Rd, Toronto

Food & Drink

Went back to Joey’s for a family dinner. I’ve heard great things about their Tuna Sashimi salad so I had to try it. I’m not much of a salad person (usually go for pasta), but this one is definitely worth trying. This place is a bit more upscale than other franchise restaurants like Pickle Barrel and I love how they have an upstairs patio. It was a bit chilly when we went, but luckily there were heated lamps set up all across the room.

They have drink specials everyday so I went with a Real Peach Bellini. Tastes just as good as the one at Milestone’s.

The food took a while to come, apparently there was an accident in the kitchen, but our waitress was great and made up for it by giving us a dessert on the house. No complaints though. Sushi was a little sub par but everything else was delicious. My sister ordered the ravioli with spinach and artichoke filling topped with  wild scallop and prosciutto which is definitely what I’m planning to get the next time we come here. The tuna sashimi salad was really citrusy and refreshing, but I don’t think any salad will ever come close to Lee’s Singaporean Slaw!

For dessert we went with the Molten Lava Chocolate Souffle. It came with a scoop of ice cream and raspberries but was more lava cake than souffle.

Sushi Legend…..Ravel Rd, Toronto

Food & Drink

Not to be confused with Asian Legend, the dim sum franchise, this restaurant is run by the same proprietor who also owns Congee Wong and 31 Kitchen. This outdoor plaza has some pretty solid restaurants and a a wide variety of Asian cuisine to choose from (Korean, Chinese, Vietnamnese, etc.) so it was interesting to see how Sushi Legend would stack up against its neighbours.

The restaurant also offers AYCE on weekdays and weekends which seems to be a popular option for many, or you can ask for the main menu. The decor is trendy with non-descriptive colorful artwork on the walls. It draws a young crowd and the atmosphere is very loud. But the service is great, waiters are always very accommodating and the food is so good! Lots of specialty rolls to choose from. I went with the My Angel Roll (Pepper Salmon, cucumber topped with salmon, eel, wasabi and eel sauce) while my sister ordered the Crazy Dragon Roll (salmon, avocado, cucumber, topped with eel, seared white tuna, salmon, wasabi mayo and balsamic sauce). When they arrived, they appeared identical so I only took a picture of one of the rolls. We also ordered unagi on rice, seafood ramen, along with seaweed salad, yuzu salmon, and rock shrimp. Not a big fan of mayo but I highly recommend the shrimp. Really delicious. The sexy summer roll is super refreshing too.

A great place for sushi lovers looking for solid and affordable japanese food uptown.

Food & Drink

I’ve been here a couple of times but the food this time was just OK.

We ordered a mango shrimp salad that said specifically in the menu that the shrimp was jumbo size but when it arrived looked completely different from what we expected. Luckily they fixed our order and we got what we wanted, but the meal was nothing special and our waitress was pretty rude. The chicken skewers were really good though.

Asian Legend…..Don Mills Rd, Toronto

Food & Drink

My parents went to Niagara Falls over the weekend and my mom won a $100 bucks gambling so she decided to take us out for lunch.

Asian Legend is known for their dumplings (their veggie dumplings are my favourite), but I’m starting to get addicted to their mango fish as well. So good. No complaints about the food but the place was so damn cold! Which sucked because I was still trying to recover from the flu and it made the food get cold fast.

Obligatory tea shot 🙂

Gonoe Sushi…..Don Mills Rd, Toronto

Food & Drink

This is probably my favourite sushi spot in uptown Toronto. It’s right beside the very popular Tako Sushi which is also quite good (the service there is fast and the prices are affordable), but I love eating in this cozy hole-in-the-wall, especially on a rainy day. The sashimi here is always fresh and they always give us free appetizers!

Our dinner selections include Seafood Udon Noodles, Gonoe Sushi B, and Lobster Paradise Roll.
