D’s Birthday Dinner at The Keg Steakhouse & Bar…..Leslie St, Toronto

Food & Drink

It was my sister’s birthday so we decided to go HAM (OK, not really) and have dinner at the Keg.

I haven’t been back to The Keg since high school. A bunch of us decided to go there one day after school and grab a bite to eat. This memory is blowing my mind because there’s also a McDonald’s nearby and why would we have decided to go to The Keg of all places? But anyways…

I really liked the atmosphere. The place had some serious mood lighting going on, but it managed to make a large venue feel cozy and intimate. We were seated in the elevated area (there was a fireplace in the back) so we could see what everyone else was eating. We ordered scallops wrapped in bacon which was delicious. The bacon was crispy but not burnt, and gave the scallop so much flavor.

The calamari dish looked really unappetizing but tasted really good. It just wasn’t a very photogenic plate 🙂

They were having a seafood special so we ordered a sirloin steak (rare-medium) with Dungeness crab along with lobster bisque. All in all, the food was a bit on the salty side but still very good. Our waiter, J, also brought my sister a slice of ice cream cake with a sparkler. Haha, you should have seen our faces, it was so unexpected. The picture is a little blurry because I was laughing, but man that ice cream was crazy good. We couldn’t stop eating it. The dessert was drizzled with chocolate and caramel and we ate every single bite. Group effort!
